Welcome to the world of Camp Cranium!

Camp Cranium is a non-profit summer camp that truly makes the impossible possible for kids with brain injuries. After all, where else can a kid in a wheelchair reach the top of a rock-climbing wall?

I was inspired to start Camp Cranium because of my work as a music therapist for children with brain injuries. These children, who had suffered traumatic brain injury, stroke, or brain tumors, were left forever changed by their injuries and were no longer able to participate in activities their peers could. Also, many felt isolated because they didn’t know anyone else dealing with similar challenges. I felt that a summer camp dedicated to these extraordinary children would help them realize they’re not alone—and have fun in the process.

I’m proud to say that in 2008 we welcomed 24 children, ages 6-18, to our inaugural week of camp. It was a huge success and campers and counselors alike had a positive, life-changing experience. What’s more, parents report that their children showed increased independence and self-confidence after camp.

I hope you’ll take some time to browse this site, learn more about our camp, and consider donating, volunteering, or sending your child to Camp Cranium.

Sincerely,
